EpiMedDat database on medieval epidemics
The research idea is based on the development and establishment of an open, collaborative scientific database (named EpiMedDat) for the collaborative collection of historical data on epidemic diseases in the pre-modern period, especially in the late Middle Ages.
Several thousand sample records will be collected in this environment and categorisation, template, structuring and presentation systems will be developed and tested based on these data. At the end of the exploration phase, a solid scientific database for the collection and processing of historical disease data will emerge, combining the functionality of Mediawiki software with the reliability of scientific work processes.
