About

Thomas Wozniak was born in Quedlinburg. He studied medieval and modern history, geography, and auxiliary sciences of history in Cologne and received his doctorate from the University of Cologne in 2009. From 2009 to 2015, he held a postdoctoral position at the University of Marburg and from 2015 to 2019, he was a researcher at the University of Tübingen. He received his habilitation from the University of Tübingen in 2017. Since 2017, he has held teaching assignments at the Universities of Tübingen, Munich, Ogden (Utah/USA), and Stuttgart. In 2021, he had a BMBF research fellowship at the University of Heidelberg. 

Thomas Wozniak has been a researcher at the GWZO since 2022.

As Adjunct Professor, Thomas Wozniak lectures regularly at the Institute for medieval History of the University of Tübingen.

Current topic of research

The project aims to develop a collaborative scientific database, called EpiMedDat, for the joint collection and comparative analysis of historical data on epidemic diseases in the late Middle Ages.
