Prof. Dr. Marcin Wołoszyn
About
Marcin Wołoszyn was born in Kracow, Poland. He studied archaeology and history in Kracow and at the Ruhr University Bochum (1994). He received his doctorate from the Jagiellonian University in 2003 and his habilitation from the University of Rzeszów (2014). From 1997 to 2015, he was a researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (in Kracow) and from 2004 also researcher at the Institute of Archaeology University of Rzeszów. Since 2015, Wołoszyn has been a professor at the University of Rzeszów. He was a research fellow of the Foundation for Polish Science (2001) and of the Humboldt Foundation (2011-2013).
Wołoszyn has been a researcher at the GWZO at several times: in 2008, 2010 and again since 2014. Marcin Wołoszyn’s main areas of research are the relations of East Central Europe with the world of the Byzantine Commonwealth 9th-13th cc. as documented by the written records, numismatic, sigillographic and archaeological evidence. Since 2013, he has been in charge of coordinating the research on the Polish-Rus’ borderland funded by Polish and German sources.
