About

Michal Frankl studied political science at the Charles University in Prague (1993–2000). In 2006, he obtained his PhD at the same university with a dissertation on the topic of Czech antisemitism at the end of the 19th century. From 2008 to 2016, he was Head of the Department for the History of the Shoah at the Jewish Museum in Prague. From 2016 to 2025, he was Senior Researcher at the Masaryk Institute and Archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He has been cooperating with the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure since 2010, and since 2019, he has been Principal Investigator of the ERC Consolidator Project »Unlikely Refuge? Refugees and Citizens in East-Central Europe in the 20th Century« (2019–2025). 

Since early 2025, Michal Frankl has been Designated Head of the GWZO-department »Knowledge and Participation« (Prague).
