Dr. Corinne Geering

Corinne Geering completed her undergraduate studies  in philosophy, theatre studies and Slavonic literatures in Zurich, Bern and Prague and holds a Master’s Degree in World Arts and Slavonic Languages and Literatures from the Center for Cultural Studies of the University of Bern. In 2018, she obtained her PhD in history from the University of Giessen where she was a scholarship holder at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC). Her thesis »Building a Common Past: World Heritage in Russia under Transformation, 1965–2000« was awarded two prizes. She has been on research stays in L’viv, Prague, Brno, Paris, Kazan’, Moscow and Petrozavodsk.

Corinne Geering has been a researcher at the GWZO since 2018 and the leader of the junior research group »Contrasting East Central Europe« since 2019.

Corinne Geering has taught history and cultural studies courses at BA, MA and PhD-level at the University of Leipzig, as well as at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of Giessen.
